5 minute readAt Nacsport, we consider analysing in real-time to be any task that an analyst performs live, during a game. You might think that this type of analysis work is reserved for top-level teams, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
A video analyst can film a match (capture) and collect data (register) live and direct as the game plays out in front of them. This can save them a lot of time because, when they get back to the office, they already have the match tagged, ready to start the analysis phase.
Live analysis can be done with any program in the Nacsport range, from Basic to Elite, and some basic equipment, which we’ll go into in more detail in this article.
This may seem obvious, but you will need a computer with a Nacsport installed. You can do real-time with any program in our range, from Basic to Elite, although the type of tasks you can do may be more limited in the lower level programs.
On our website, you can check the minimum and recommended requirements your computer should meet to install and run Nacsport. Regarding the software, as stated before, you can use any of our five different video analysis solutions.
We'd also like to offer you this guide to recommended hardware for working with Nacsport. Click on the pic below to download it.
You'll also need a video camera. In this article, you'll find a list of the 5 best cameras for video analysis as recommended by Nacsport. That been said, the only requiste for your camera is that it has a HDMI output and it's practically impossible to find a camera that doesn't have this on today's market, but please ensure that it does.
We also recommend that you confirm that the camera allows you to record to both the memory card and the HDMI output at the same time. This is not essential when capturing video with Nacsport, but it is advisable.
Lastly, you will need a video capture device. This is the device which allows sending footage from your video camera to your computer and it connects both devices.
Yep, unfortunately it's not possible to directly connect your camera to your computer for real-time analysis. You need a device which changes the video format so that you can view it on your computer and, in this case, your Nacsport software.
There are many video capture devices on the market but we particularly recommend AverMedia capture cards as we have worked with them successfully over the years. This being said, the choice is up to you and in the Hardware Guide we mentioned earlier, you'll find a larger selection of compatible devices.
If you need more info on how capture devices work and how to set them up with Nacsport, check out this PDF brochure and keep reading, of course!
Firstly, connect the video camera to the capture device and then the capture device to the computer.
In the following video, we explain how this process can be done with one of the compatible AverMedia devices, but it is equally valid for any.
*NOTE: The driver of the capture device must be installed on your computer.
In case you have more questions, this PDF file will show you main features in the AverMedia models, as well as instructions to connect these two devices and frequently asked questions it may arise.
You can also contact our team at support@nacsport.com if you have more questions.
